While I had heard many good things about this place, what I had wasn't. Ordered breakfast to go for 3 adults, the stake and eggs the stake was good but no salt or pepper used on the eggs or hash browns and the hash browns were really greasy. The loaded biscuits and gravy also no salt or pepper used. Half the potatoes were not cooked, and still raw. Ended up letting the dogs have the under cooked potatoes. The third meal was the lumberjack no salt or pepper used. All 3 meals were cold had to heat them back up and it only took us 4 min to get home to eat. For the price and what we got for food how it was made won't be going back.
Excellent morning cooks. About average afternoon and later night cooks. The building is old and in need of some updates of course but it is the staff that really puts this place on the map, at least the morning staff. The staff consists of mostly woman that have been in this business for many years. They are witty and funny and still know how to run the length of the building with a tray of eggs in their hands. The food in the morning is still what it was years ago but the afternoon cook staff has improved to meet average standards. The daytime service brings this place up to 4 stars! Truly the bathrooms are in need of some attention as far as updating goes. I do remember the days when this place was owned by other companies, even as far back as being owned by BigBoy and had a wide salad bar and a morning buffet as well. Back then it was almost impossible to get a seat come Saturday or Sunday morning and the food was good enough that we would skip cooking our normal Sunday brunch at home to head here. I do believe that the current owner is the same owner of the Ashland breakwater where they actually put in a buffet without sacrificing much space even though none was there before. It would be nice if they returned that service to the ironwood restaurant, especially since this one has always had a buffet no matter what company owned it in the past.
The staff are friendly. But my latest experience was not so good. My husband ordered the western burger without mayo. When we received our food his burger didn't have the lettuce and tomato that it was supposed to come with. He requested the lettuce and tomato, it was brought out on a plate and looked as if it had been pulled off of another burger, there was mayo on both the lettuce and tomato. Complete turn off.
We always get wonderful service when we visit and the food is great. Good prices as well
Excellent food reasonable price's you can get breakfast any time of the day and staff is really nice
